Lumbini Development Trust 28.Dec.2011 Visit Lumbini 2012 Announced by Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai Visit Lumbini 2012 Announced by the Prime Minister Bhattarai Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai formally announced Visit Lumbini 2012 on December 1, 2011 in Lumbini, the holy birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha and world heritage site. The event organized by Nepal Government at the request of Lumbini Development Trust will be inaugurated on 14th January 2012 and will be celebrated with various kinds of programmes throughout the year round. The Prime Minister Bhattarai was welcomed by Culture Minister Honorable Gopal Kiraty, Vice Chairman Acharya Karma Sangbo Sherpa, Project Chief Er. Temba Sherpa and staff of Lumbini Development Trust. Office Chiefs of different districts also warmly welcomed the arrival of the Prime Minister.

WASHINGTON DC, JUL 26 - The Nepali Embassy in Washington has placed promotional posters of Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 in metro buses Washington DC targeting summer tourists. Nepali ambassador to US Dr Shankar Sharma formally launched the program by visiting metro-bus station at 44th Street, the embassy said in a press statement received on Tuesday. Around 15 million domestic and international tourists visit Washington DC every year. “The poster displays cultural and natural diversity of Nepal. We are hopeful that it will be effective for tourism promotion,” the statement from the embassy said.

China plans to help Nepal develop Buddha’s birthplace at Lumbini Reuters, Jun 16, 2011 Kathmandu, Nepal -- A Chinese-backed foundation and Nepal’s government plan to transform Lord Buddha’s birthplace in southern Nepal into a magnet for Buddhists in the same way as Mecca is to Muslims and the Vatican for Catholics. The Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation plans to raise $3 billion at home and abroad to build temples, an airport, a highway, hotels, convention centres and a Buddhist university in the town of Lumbini, about 171 km (107 miles) southwest of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. China rolls out discounts for 1st National Tourism Day (May19)
BEIJING -- From offering ticket discounts to organizing activities, China's cities and provinces are gearing up for the country's first national tourism day. On National Tourism Day, which falls on Thursday this year, tourists will get half-price tickets for all scenic spots in north China's Shanxi province, according to the provincial tourism bureau. In the island province of Hainan, free tickets and discount coupons will be distributed around the island's west coast, and all tourists taking public transportation from Thursday to Saturday will get half-price tickets for the Li and Miao ethnic groups' cultural tourism zone. Libraries, museums and stadiums in the county of Qionghai will be open to local residents free of charge for one week.

(2065/04/01-2070/03/32 i.e. 16 July 2008- 15 July 2013).
Trekking Tour of India

Ladakh : Ladakh offers adventurous trekking trips. This is setup between two of the world's greatest mountain ranges, Himalayan and the Karakoram. This valley banned firstly because of the enemy and then for its strategic geographic position. The attraction here for the tourists are snow clad peaks, translucent lakes, barren terrain etc. The best season to go on trekking expeditions in this region is between July and September.

The main obstruction in the trekking is due to cold waves and snow. Thus, special clothings are required for trekking in this region. Pullovers and anorak should be kept handy, a pair of walking shoes with strong rubber or synthetic soles for grip, thick cotton socks, good sleeping bag, a waterproof tent, a good quality water cantten, flash light with sufficent batteries, a sun-hat, first-aid and a pair of good quality sunglasses are essential gear for going on a trek, and all should be back packed in a good quality rucksack.

Apart from this, according to the time and budget the tourist offices at Leh, Kargil or Padum can design trekking programmes for the people but the right and easiest way to go on trek is through a travel agency, which will take care of all arrangements including camping gear, provisions, porterage, staff and all other matters. It is advisable to have each & every essential thing with from the base camp.

Garhwal : Here in Garhwal trekking tips can be undertaken all the year. The trekking routes are open from April to October. Garhwal is the paradise for the trekkers with its beauty, which is kept because of its districts of Uttarkashi, Tehri-Garhwal, Pauri-Garhwal, Dehra Dun and Chamoli. These hills are very much rich in natural beauty. Trekkers trekking there always go on describing the beauty of the hills at every turn. It provides all kind of terrains for the people interested in studying the plants, art and culture and birds of Himalayas. A lots of material is provided to the photographers, painters and weather professionals from the village homes and scenic mountains.

Jammu & Kashmir : The trekking season extends from July through September. Trekking in Jammu & Kashmir is of different kind, one may go for trekking for a week or for a day. People can not feel like they are away from the human life, even on hills the huts of Gujjars can be seen made up of log of wood, they use to graze their sheeps on the lonely hills. In Ladakh s some treks have monasteries as their focus and in Kashmir some treks have mountain lakes as their focus. One trek in particular covers half a dozen high altitude lakes, encircled by snow covered mountains. In Jammu, Kishtwar and Bhadarwar regions have excellent trekking routes. To trek in Jammu & Kashmir a number of tour operators who are specialize in organizing the trekking trips are also available.


Nainital : The height of the snow view point from the sea level is 2270 meters. From snow view point one can have a fabulous look of Nanda Devi Peak. Also the interesting view of other peaks can be had from this point. Binoculars can be hired to have a close view of the peaks. One can reach this place from two ways either by Rope way or by ponies which are available at Mallital. At the top of the point, there is a Dev Mundi house, which contains the marble images of Durga, Sita, Shiva, Lakshman and Hanuman.

Mussoorie : The gun hill is the second highest point in the Mussoorie. Two ways are there to reach the Gunhill firstly through the court complex on the Mall Road. From this way you will reach to the destination in near about 20 minutes. The another way to go the Gunhill is through the Rope way. This way is full of excitement and thrill. This path to the Gunhill is about 400 meters. From Gunhill Mussoorie looks like a place full of colors, or one can feel like as the place is changing the color at every moment. Sikkim : If someone visit Sikkim and misses to go for trekking among its challenging foothills, then he must be missing a major attraction of the state. Government there, now encouraging the trekkers to cover out the terrain of Sikkim with their bravery skills, just to develop tourism and encourage tourist inflow. The well-known trekking routes are Nayan Bazar- Pemayangtse-Yaksum-Dzongri or Rangpo-Gangtok-Yaksum-Dzongri. In Sikkim trekking is allowed by the Indian Tourist development Corporation and a liason officer or guide provided by the government of Sikkim.

Kumaon : Trekking in Kumaon can be undertaken all the year round, with traditionally popular periods being April-June and September-November, just because of the vastness of the terrain and altitude differences. In the valleys and forests of Kumaon, mountaineering expeditions can still be organized. The main hill resort of Kumaon is Nanital. The essential equipment is easily available on rent at the individual basis.
