| Balthali Village Resort |
Very easy to reach from
Kathmandu, about 2 hrs. One of the best located Resorts outside
Kathmandu valley. Constructed above Balthali village with the
intention of viewing sun rise in the east, speculating Himalayan
rane from Manaslu to Mt. Everest in the north, innumerable rice
terraces in the west and the huge bodied green forest of Mahabharat
range in the south. One of the most important factors of this spot
is that it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Standing on a plateau , just beyond Panauti about 40 km away from
Kathmandu , is a small sleepy settlement of Balthali village which
rests at the juction of Roshi and Ladku Khola rivers. High above the
southern ridge of this exceptional hamlet stands Balthali Village
Resort (1650 m) - an outstanding place of isolation and relaxation
amidst a surrounding of typical Nepali countryside with terraced
rice fields and ochre thatched farm houses. With snowy peaks of
Dorjee Lhakpa. Langtang and whole range of mountains rests clear and
bright on the northern horizon. Whilst the back yard is dominated by
high hill of lush green Mahabharat Range which makes Balthali
village Retreat - a perfect place for solitude and then to relax
midst a countryside where times stands still , upper-turbid , almost
like the middle ages . This is a place to rediscover what nature
does to your soul....................
Balthali Village Retreat is certainly not an ordinary place as many
hotels and resorts have mushroomed extensively over the years. It is
very simple , unconventional , yet comfortable retreat center with
full modern amenities of 10 double room , with western style toilet
and attached bathroom , hot and cold shower flows freely and the
tasty Nepalese and continental cuisine is served at the large roomy
restaurant by the friendly , smiling local staff. The bar fully
stocked with local wines and native brews.
The area surrounding the Balthali Retreat is thickly forested with
luxuriant growth of various flora. Colorfull rhododendron, magnolia
and Sal trees covers the hills that undulates and open out to
terrace fields. After dusk a myriad of flickering of lights below
the valley of Balthali Village comes alive. Nature lovers and birds
watcher can spend days exploring and discovering some exceptional
species of wildlife, tradition and culture untouched by modernity .
This 'off the beaten location ' has endless trails leading to some
unknown villages of Tamangs , Newars and some ethnics tribes thus ,
offering excellent shorts hickes and Mountain Biking on the easy
trails. Many of the sacred and ancient temples and monasteries such
as Namobuddha , Indreshwor Mahadev , Bramayani Temple are located in
this region and still needs to be discovered and unveil its
mysterious past .
There are a number of excellent short and long hikes from a day to 5
days within Balthali Village and its surrounding giving you ample
