Lumbini Development Trust 28.Dec.2011 Visit Lumbini 2012 Announced by Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai Visit Lumbini 2012 Announced by the Prime Minister Bhattarai Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai formally announced Visit Lumbini 2012 on December 1, 2011 in Lumbini, the holy birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha and world heritage site. The event organized by Nepal Government at the request of Lumbini Development Trust will be inaugurated on 14th January 2012 and will be celebrated with various kinds of programmes throughout the year round. The Prime Minister Bhattarai was welcomed by Culture Minister Honorable Gopal Kiraty, Vice Chairman Acharya Karma Sangbo Sherpa, Project Chief Er. Temba Sherpa and staff of Lumbini Development Trust. Office Chiefs of different districts also warmly welcomed the arrival of the Prime Minister.

Embassy of Nepal, in cooperation with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), has promoted Nepal Tourism Year 2011 to allure maximum number of tourists into Nepal in London by advertising its major promotional theme, “Naturally Nepal” through double-decker London Buses. This is the first time such type of module has been taken into account to marketing Nepal’s tourism in the United Kingdom

WASHINGTON DC, JUL 26 - The Nepali Embassy in Washington has placed promotional posters of Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 in metro buses Washington DC targeting summer tourists. Nepali ambassador to US Dr Shankar Sharma formally launched the program by visiting metro-bus station at 44th Street, the embassy said in a press statement received on Tuesday. Around 15 million domestic and international tourists visit Washington DC every year. “The poster displays cultural and natural diversity of Nepal. We are hopeful that it will be effective for tourism promotion,” the statement from the embassy said.

China plans to help Nepal develop Buddha’s birthplace at Lumbini Reuters, Jun 16, 2011 Kathmandu, Nepal -- A Chinese-backed foundation and Nepal’s government plan to transform Lord Buddha’s birthplace in southern Nepal into a magnet for Buddhists in the same way as Mecca is to Muslims and the Vatican for Catholics. The Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation plans to raise $3 billion at home and abroad to build temples, an airport, a highway, hotels, convention centres and a Buddhist university in the town of Lumbini, about 171 km (107 miles) southwest of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. The foundation, blessed by the Chinese government, signed a memorandum
China rolls out discounts for 1st National Tourism Day (May19)
BEIJING -- From offering ticket discounts to organizing activities, China's cities and provinces are gearing up for the country's first national tourism day. On National Tourism Day, which falls on Thursday this year, tourists will get half-price tickets for all scenic spots in north China's Shanxi province, according to the provincial tourism bureau. In the island province of Hainan, free tickets and discount coupons will be distributed around the island's west coast, and all tourists taking public transportation from Thursday to Saturday will get half-price tickets for the Li and Miao ethnic groups' cultural tourism zone. Libraries, museums and stadiums in the county of Qionghai will be open to local residents free of charge for one week.

Elephant Safari
Our elephant allows you to approach closely to same of the world’s rarest animals such as Great one horned rhinos and sloth bears. The tri lasts approximately one and a half hours.

Canoe Trip
A trip a dugout canoe on either the Rapti or the Budhi Rapti Riverwhich border the National Park will provide a chance to see two types of crocodiles, the Gharial and the Mugger basking on the river banks. Other wildlife, especially bird, is of an additional interest.
Elephant Breeding Centre
This is the first elephant breeding center in Asia and is situated only one and half km. from our hotel. You can see baby elephants socializing with their parents and other babies. The centre is government owned and its purpose if to raise the young elephants, and to train them to convey tourists around the region. Guests at paradise may accompany our privately owned elephants to experience their daily bathing in the river.
Village Tour
Tharus are the indigenous inhabitants of the Terai. We offer guided cultural tours to meet the people and experience their traditional way of life. At the hotel we feature ethic Tharu dance which exhibits traditional movements and invite guests to join them in this rhythmic display.
Bird Watching
We are specialists in the birds of Nepal. Active members of the Bird Education Society of Nepal are employees of the hotel. The park is a habitat for over 450 residential and migratory species. Many are threatened e.g. the Great Pied Hornbill, Bengal Florican, Peregrine Falcon, lesser adjutant strokes etc, a bird watching trip with our resident naturalists will be a memorable experience.
Nature Walk
Our experienced naturalists will accompany you to the more specialized habitats. This is an ideal opportunity to explore and experience, at closer quarters, the beauty of the flora and fauna. The naturalists are trained to observe changes in animal behavior and can detect if an animal is becoming agitated to ensure your safety by avoiding an attack.
Jungle Drive
We provide tour by four wheel drive jeep in the less disturbed areas of the park for an opportunity to view rarer species; you will visit Ox-bow lakes and a museum of historic interest relating to the park. These facilities inside park are not available during the monsoon. However during this period we visit the 20,000 Lakes area which offers a varied experience of birds and mammals.


Short Itinerary

1/2/3 Nights Safari Tour

Day 1:
On your arrival at Chitrasari you will be received by our staff. You will then be transferred to our Resort where you will be offered refreshments & be given a briefing on our Resort & its facilities. After being given your
programmes for the day, your room will then be allocated to you.
15:00- Lunch.
15:00 - Elephant briefing & bathing.
16:00 - Elephant safari. An excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkeys, leopard, sloth bear and the Royal Bengal Tiger (if you are lucky). You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home.
19:00 - Thaw cultural dance presentation (which you can also participate in) by the local villagers or a slide show presentation on almost everything under the Chitwan sun.
20:00 - Dinner.

Day 2:
05:30 - Wake up call.
06:00 - Tea/coffee followed by nature walk. An excellent opportunity to see a great many of those 524 different species of birds found in Chitwan.
07:50 - Breakfast.
09:00 - Canoe ride along the Rapti river. An excellent opportunity for bird watching and for seeing the 2 rare species of crocodiles; the Marsh Mugger and the fish eating Gharial.
10:00 - Visit to the Government Elephant Breeding Center. Walk/drive back through the Tharu villages to our Resort where you can take a leisurely swim or relax by the poolside. You can also spend the time before lunch to gaze at the fishes found in Chitwan in your own fish pond or play a game of tennis or pool table with your friends or just spend a few quiet moments in our library with a book. You can even let your children play by themselves in our children’s playground. Your choices are limitless.
13:00 - Lunch.
15:00 - Visit to the National Park Visitor’s center where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife.
16:00 - Village tour to a nearby ethnic Thaw village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyles of the Thaws.
19:00 - Tharu cultural dance presentation or a slide show presentation.
20:00 - Dinner.

Day 3:
05:30 - Wake up call. Tea/coffee followed by elephant safari, nature walk or you can just spend the morning as you prefer.
07:30 - Breakfast.
09:00 - Drive to Bees Hazzar Taal (Twenty thousand lakes) where you will see crocodiles and lots of birds in and around these lakes.
11:00 - Back to our Resort where you can spend time at leisure.
13:00 - Lunch.
15:00 - Jungle Drive through the grasslands, riverine forests and sal forests to Kasara (the National Park’s head quarters) Gharial hatchery farm where you will learn about how crocodiles are brought up at this farm & then later released into the rivers.
19:00 - Thorn cultural dance presentation or a slide show presentation.
20:00 - Dinner.

Day 4:
05:30 - Wake up call. Tea/coffee followed by elephant safari, nature walk or you can just spend the morning as you prefer.
07:30 - Breakfast.
09:00 - Departure for onward journey.
