Tour Itinerary
Day 01: Fly Beijing to Xining. Stay at Hotel.
Day 02: Drive across the Qilian Range to Zhang Ye. Stay at Hotel
Day 03: Visit Da Fo (Giant Buddha) Temple and the Wooden Stupas. Stay at Ye Hotel.
Day 04: Drive to Jia Yu Guan. Visit Jia Yu Guan old town, and Xuan Bi Wall. Stay at Hotel.
Day 05: Drive to Dunhuang. Stay at Hotel.
Day 06: Visit the Mogao Buddhist Caves, one of the greatest collections of Buddhist art in the world. Also visit Yueya (Crescent Moon) Spring, and the picturesque sand dunes at Mingsha. Drive 2-3 hours to the train station. Leave Qinghai crew and take the 7:40 pm sleeper train to Turpan.
Day 07: Arrive 5:15 am in Turpan. Meet Xinjiang crew and go for breakfast. Visit the Gao Chung ruins, the Astana Tombs, the Bazikilik Thousand Buddha Caves, Fire Mountain, the Grape Valley Vineyards, and the Karez Well. Stay at Hotel.
Day 08: Drive 200 km to Urumqi (apx 3 hours). Then visit the south mountain grazing lands of the Hasak people. Visit with the Hasak people in their tents. In evening, return to Urumqi. Stay at Hotel.
Day 09: In morning, drive to Heavenly Lake (Tianshan). Take the incline cable car up to the top of the mountain for excellent views. Also take a boat ride on the lake. In afternoon, return to Urumqi and visit the Erdao Bridge Market. Stay at same hotel.
Day 10: After breakfast, drive to airport for 11:35am flight to Xining. Meet Qinghai crew again. After lunch, take a short trip to Kubum Monastery, one of the six largest yellow sect monasteries in Tibet. It was founded in 1560 by the great master Rinchen Tsondru Gyaltsen, to commemorate the birth place of Tsongkhapa,
the yellow sect founder. Then return to Xining and stay at Qinghai Hotel.
Day 11: Transfer to airport for flight to Lhasa.
Day 12: Explore Lhasa
Full day sight-seeing tour of gold roofed palace of Potala built in the time of fifth Dalai Lama, Jorkhang temple- a spiritual center of Tibet and Barkhor- a colorful market. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 13: Explore Lhasa
Full day excursion tour to Drepung- the largest monastery in the Tibet which was founded in 1416 and until Potala was built, it used to be the residence of 3rd ,4th & 5th Dalai Lama. Continue to Sera Monastery- one of great institution of Gelugpa sect. Overnight at Hotel..
Day 14: Explore Lhasa
An excursion of Ganden monastery- the first founded and main seat of the Gelugpa, Yellow Hat' sect. It lies about 40 km east of Lhasa at an elevation of 4300m. The views seen from Ganden, down into the Kyichu valley and across to the distant snowcaps, are exceptional. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 15: Lhasa-Kathmandu or Beijing
After breakfast, transfer to the Gongar airport for flight back to Kathmandu or to your onward destination.
