Overview
Ilam is one of four urban municipalities of Ilam District, which is in the hilly region of Province No. 1 of Nepal. Ilam also acts as the headquarters of Ilam District. Geographically it lies in the hill region which is mostly known as Mahabharata range.

It is also one of the important towns in Province No. 1 and one of the major places in Nepal for tea-production. It is famous for natural scenery and landscapes, tea production, and diverse agricultural economy. It is one of the major horticultural crop production districts of Nepal.The total area of the municipality is 173.32 square kilometres (66.92 sq mi) and total population is 48536 (2011 Nepal census).
Darjeeling- Situated in North East India, just south of Sikkim, Darjeeling provides the perfect ambiance of a hill resort with it’s mild climate and laid back charm. Its verdant hills and valleys are steeped in colour, and are interspersed with vast streatches of rolling green tea gardens.
Sikkim-Long sequestered in the lap of the Himalayas, sandwiched between Nepal Bhutan and Tibet a state of India. Sikkim provides a wide potential in tourism that has yet largely remained unexploited. The perennially snow-capped mountains, lush green tropical and temperate forests, gurgling streams and the rich flora and fauna – a true Shangrila or “Nye-mae-el” which simply means ‘heaven’.
Kalimpong is famous for its monasteries, Churches , temples, monks and missionaries , Flowers, Orchids , exotic flora, old colonial bungalows, scenic view points, the study of Tibetan & Himalayan languages, culture, education centre and above all the panorama of snows. Kalimpong is also known for its tapestry bags and purses, copperware, scrolls and paintings from Dr Grahams house. Shops selling Tibetan Jewellery, Buddhist thankas, hand beaten silver, Bhutanese weaves, Chinese lamps, Lepcha daggers, masks and a lot more and art effects can be found to the east of Dambar Chowk.
