Bagmati Tourism Office orders tourism services to use only licensed guides
KATHMANDU: The Provincial Tourism Office, Babarmahal, Kathmandu, has directed tourism businesses and service providers to use only legally licensed guides for tours, trekking, hiking, rafting, and other tourism activities.
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the office said it had received complaints and information that unlicensed individuals and foreign nationals were providing guiding services to domestic and foreign tourists in various tourist destinations and trekking areas under its jurisdiction.
The office has directed tourism entrepreneurs, travel and trekking agencies, hotels, homestays, guides, and other stakeholders to comply with prevailing laws to ensure tourist safety, service quality, professional accountability, and responsible tourism practices.
Tourism entrepreneurs must verify a guide’s license, its validity, and the guide’s authorization and qualifications before assigning them to tourists. Service providers must also maintain records of guides and their licenses.
The office warned that legal action would be taken against individuals and businesses found providing or facilitating guiding services through unlicensed personnel. It said all legal and professional liabilities arising from the use of unlicensed guides would rest with the concerned individuals or businesses. >>Read More
